School Narrative Report

It was September 6, 2007 when I first conducted my lesson with the integration of computer. Before I proceed to my lesson I told my pupils that they will use a computer as additional tool in learning our subject. The initial reaction of the pupils are excited and some are nervous because for some of them have no experience on handling a computer.

One by one I assist each group of pupils in introducing them to the KidSmart computer. At that time, I started my lesson about rhyming words. Each group had the opportunity in learning how to read and analyze with the help of the computer. There were different reactions in each student, but in the end of each computer session, the pupils are reluctant to leave the computer because they pretty much enjoyed using it as an instuctional tool. For them it is breather to the traditional teaching.

On my second session they were much comfortable using the computer. Although it was Math subject all the students were excited in learning the lesson through the use of CBL rather than the traditional way of teaching.

As a sum, learning using a device compare to the traditional teaching encourage more students to study and participate.

School Narrative Report

On September, Grade II class was scheduled to use the computer using CBL. As expected, my pupils are very happy knowing that we will go to the library to use a new mehtod of learning through the use of computer. Most of them have no background in handling a computer but some have, through a computer center around the town.

September 5 was our first session. Pupils were oriented on how to behave inside the station. A brief introduction about computer was also taught before hand. Everybody was really excited because it was the first time that we go out of the classroom and second, they have a chance to handle a computer. I saw the amusement on their face. As the lesson goes on, children are listening attentively. Maybe they were waiting for the me to say its time for them to go to the computer. When we proceed to the group work chaos began. All of them wants to go to the computer, they were given 5 minutes in each station and then, as I signal there will be a rotation, so, all of them will have a chance to handle the computer. It was really a fruitful experience for them. They kept on asking me, "Ma'am kailan po tayo babalik dun?"

Some of their parents also approached me and asked about the computer lesson,. They told me it makes their children more interested in going to school and bacame more eager to study their lessons. "Baka daw kasi mag computer uli. Mas lalo daw nilang naiintindihan ang lesson."

KidSmart program breaks the monotonous of our everyday traditional way of teaching. It enhances more knowledge, provides opportunities and develop critical thinking to our pupils.

School Narrative Report

KidSmart is very helpful to the children. This program provides the children to become knowledgeable with the technology. By interacting to this program the children learned and played.

During my first year teaching, I gave an instruction to my children before during and after entering to the computer laboratory. But I admitted that it is very hard to bring a big class inside the room because some children do what they want to do. Even though I grouped them and gave an activity while some group is using the computer. Some children left their works then they watch what is on the computer. They want already to operate the computer even it is not their turn to manipulate.

The children are so amazed what they observed. Some says "Wow! Ang Ganda!". "Ang Galing!" As a result, they don't wnat to stand up to pass the keyboard to their other classmates. They say "Ako Muna!" So as a teacher, I controlled them so that everybody will experience in operating the computer and in order to learned.
