A Narrative

DAANGHARI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
(District of Taguig II
)

Three-year old Sam is smiling from ear to ear. His parents have brought him his first computer. But to Sam, the most interesting thing about his new toy is the big brown box it came in. Could little Sam be too young for the sophisticated world of icons, keyboards, and commands? Ready or not, Sam will be spending time on the computer if he goes to school next year.

Technology offers a unique intellectual experiences and opportunities for young children. For some children who have unique styles in learning, computers can reveal hidden strrengths. Computers allow children to discover, make choices and find out the impact of decisions, encourages exploration, imagination and problem-solving. Computers also make possible experiences and representations that cannot take place in the real world that provides them new experiences and improved understanding.

Some observations made that children who were exposed to technologies perform better specifically reading and number readiness when they enter in the first grade compared to pupils without experiences on how to manipulate the computer for learning.
